• Betula nigra – is a deciduous tree growing to 80–100 ft with a trunk 20 to 60 inches in diameter. The base of the tree is often divided into multiple slender trunks. Bark characteristics of the river birch differ during its youth stage, maturation, and old growth. The bark of a young river birch can vary from having a salmon-pink to brown-gray tint and can be described as having loose layers of curling, paper-thin scales The twigs are glabrous or thinly hairy. 
• Leyland cypress – A large, evergreen tree, reaches a size between 20 and 25 m high, with its leaves giving it a compact, thick and regular habit. It grows very fast with yearly increases of 1 m. The leaves, about 1 mm long and close to the twig, are presented in flaky, slightly aromatic branches. They are dark green, somewhat paler on the underside, but can have different colors, depending on the cultivar. The crown of many forms is broadly columnar with slightly overhanging branch tips.
• Quaking aspen – is a tall, fast-growing tree, usually 65–80 ft at maturity, with a trunk 8 inches to 2 feet 7 inches in diameter; records are 119 ft 9 in height and 4 ft 6 in in diameter. The bark is relatively smooth, colored greenish-white to gray, and is marked by thick black horizontal scars and prominent black knots. Parallel vertical scars are tell-tale signs of elk, which strip off aspen bark with their front teeth.
